Oliver Kalan is a multidisciplinary artist born in Dallas, Texas in 1997. He received his BFA in sculpture from Northern Arizona University at Flagstaff in 2020, and is currently working on his graduate thesis at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.
Kalan’s sculptures are embodiments of queer experiences in the U.S., working to create positive visibility for those othered by society. By combining flora and fauna with the figure, Kalan argues that those perceptions of self are natural and human, contrary to politicized societal views.
Kalan’s exhibitions in 2024 include the group shows “Full Circle” at the 8th Biennial Western Cast Iron Art Alliance Conference in El Cajon, CA and “18th Annual Master Pieces” at Manifest Galleries in Cincinnati, OH.
